ENGINE. The really big news in the Ford camp for 1986 was the introduction of port fuel injection. Automatic-equipped 5.0 Mustangs and Capris had received throttle-body-style EFI (or, in Ford-speak, "CFI," for central fuel injection) during the period 1983-'85 when five-speed cars were getting Holley four-barrel carbs.
The bolt pattern for the V6 (2.3, 2.6,3.8. 3.9,4.0) are all the same. Only the flywheel may be different with different tooth count on the ring gear and the depth of the flywheel and pilot bushing used. I myself will be installing a T5 5 speed trans behind a 2.8L V6 with 2.6L heads. It will go into a 1974 Capri. 1979–1986 Ford Transit (engine code LAT) 1975–1985 Ford Capri (engine codes LAC, LAN) Early high compression variant (TL16H) The HC version of the early 1.6 L had the same bore and stroke as the LC version, but the compression ratio was higher (9.2:1), allowing it to produce 53 kW (71 hp) of power and 118 N·m (87 ft·lbf) of torque.
